ART I MADE FROM AGES 14-19

most people don't know that i was very religious in my late teens and early twenties - which was also the time that i began to discover my interest in art. from ages 14-19, i explored my ideas about religion, life, and death through sculpture.
i am pictured here at dK gallery in Georgia showing one of my sculpture works. i was 19 in this photo. :~)

these are sculptures i made at various summer programs for the arts that i attended as a high school student — the Governor's Honors Program of Georgia (2013) and the SAIC Early College Program in Chicago, IL (2014). both sculptures are meant to explore religious themes - the holy spirit, sound, space and religious architecture.

this is my AP art thesis in high school. it's a series of sculptural relief objects that depict spiritual themes like growth, harmony, evolving, etc. it's gigantic and my dad helped me build it.

various sketchbook pages and things.

one of my favorite artists when I was a teenager was Thornton Dial. when i got my license at 16, i used to drive downtown to Bill Lowe Gallery in Atlanta, GA where a majority of his collection was on display (at the time). i was fascinated by his work and created these sculptural reliefs in homage to him.
one of my dad's favorite works of mine is this fabric relief below, and he still has it hanging in his house to this day.

a photo of me w/ my two high school besties hayden and val. we used to hang out at coffee shops and draw in our sketchbooks together.
